Prior to 2009, Jeff enjoyed a remarkable run winning three consecutive city championships with the 1995 & 1997 peewee AA Rangers. Jeff and his coaching staff were awarded the 2007/2008 Bruce Miller coaches of the year award by the APHA AA Ranger program. In 2006 Jeff was selected to coach an all-star Manitoba novice team, at two elite tournaments in Toronto and Edmonton. In conjunction with coaching, Jeff has helped develop countless young players aged 4 – 19 in numerous hockey camps throughout Manitoba. Jeff is a strong instructor of all aspects of the game and is particularly strong with instructing fundamental skating mechanics. Jeff has been a program coordinator and lead instructor at First In The Corner Hockey School, Pro Power Performance (Boise, Idaho), Charleswood Hawks Development Camp, and has been a lead instructor with the Max Hockey School for the past five years. As a Max Hockey instructor Jeff has had the opportunity to work directly with several current and future WHL, Manitoba Junior-A, Manitoba Major Junior, U.S. Junior and U.S. college players. Jeff’s passion for the game and his experience with instruction, game management, and performance training, makes him a very effective coach and hockey developer. Jeff has two sons ages 17 and 21 who have played in the WMHA system from a very young age. Taylor (21) played bantam and midget AAA hockey with the Monarchs, and currently plays with the MMJHL Charleswood Hawks. McClay (17) is a former AA and AAA player, currently playing for the St. Paul’s Crusaders. Jeff’s wife Darlene, is an educator and fitness trainer, who in addition to her teaching duties, is the Strength and Conditioning coach for the Balmoral Hall Female Hockey Academy. |
